Gatsby chapters 1-4

Although Nick is much different than Gatsby in many senses, the two also share much in common like their detachment from their communities. Nick is detached in the way that he doesn't have many friends where he lives, and he is also not as disgustingly wealthy as the people that surround him, so he doesn't make much contact with others. While Nick is detached in this way, Gatsby is detached in the way that he is one of the more wealthy people in his community, but at the same time he is very secretive and tends to keep away from other people, as well as keeping his business and personal life away from the public.
