Reconstruction

Reconstruction was the period in which the union had succeeded against the south, and the southern states were left in ruins. The good thing about reconstruction was that it left southerners poor, and unable to fund another war, but it was also bad because it further divided the country.

The reconstruction is relevant today because it has still effected the south to this day, and is one of the factors of the racism and prejudice of the south.

A news article that reconstruction connects to is the article about a US census worker being hung. the article displays the racism and violence that the south still has since reconstruction
